The Balvenie

Listen as Wade drunkenly interviews Vic Galloway of BBC Scotland, James Graham of The Twilight Sad and Brendan Glasson of Vio/Miré at SXSW 2012.

I hope everyone had an amazing SXSW. I know I did. Aside from the glory of seeing (and meeting) Tenacious D, I had the pleasure of stumbling upon quite a few interesting shows and showcases over the course of the week downtown. What follows are links and occasional thoughts from the notebook I keep fastidiously (and drunkenly) over the course of this years festival.

Tuesday 3/13/12

Santigold w/ Theophilus London @ La Zona Rosa

  • A big THANK YOU to Miguel (ulovei) for the guest list passes. Eddie and I enjoyed the show and it was a great way to kick off my SXSW.

Wednesday 3/14/12

Archie Powell & The Exports @ BD Rielley’s

XV @ The Tent on Red River & 6th

Tennis @ Red 7

Charlie Simpson @ The British Music Embassy

Thursday 3/15/12

Tenacious D at Haven

Morning Parade @ The British Music Embassy

Scatered Trees, Yukon Blonde @ 512

Tenacious D w/ The Riverboat Gamblers, Side A Side B @ Haven

  • Amazing show. Humbled that I saw The D in such a small venue. The Gamblers rocked, as always. Side A Side B was a wonderful surprise.

Crystal Fighters @ The British Music Embassy

Friday 3/16/12

The Twilight Sad at British Music Embassy

The Twilight Sad, The Xcerts & Tashaki Miyaki @ The British Music Embassy

Temper Trap w/ Crystal Fighters & Clock Opera @ The Parrish

Saturday 3/17/12

Dead Letter Circus @ Maggie Mae’s (Aussie Music BBQ)

Polarsets @ The British Music Embassy

Vio/Mire @ Dominican Joe’s

Dutch Uncles @ The British Music Embassy

The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks @ Red 7

  • Yes, I saw The Twilight Sad twice. I’ve been waiting awhile so I decided to soak it up. Especially after James was kind enough to give a drunk fan an interview in an alley.

I hope you enjoy some of the above bands as much as I do. As always, listen and love!
